Ready to Fly A Kite?
The Annual “Don Miller” Memorial Seward Rotary/Concordia Rotaract Club Family Kite Flying Contest is scheduled for Sunday, April 24th at 2:00 pm at Plum Creek Park.  This free annual event is open to all ages.  Families are especially encouraged to attend with parents and children all flying kites.  Trophies and awards will be presented at the end of the contest.
Rotary Movie Day Addresses Local Food Needs
Seward Rotary Club presented "Sing 2" as this year's Beat the Winter Blahs free children's movie at the historic Rivoli Theater on February 21st.  Attending the movie was free  but children and families were encouraged to bring canned goods and toiletries to support members of our community in need.  The items collected were delivered by Greg Zabke, Rotarian, to Blue Valley Community Action Pantry.  More than 200 attended the movie and helped in this worthy cause.
Sen. Fischer Visits Rotary
United States Senator Deb Fischer attended the Seward Rotary Club meeting on February 23rd and provided remarks on a variety of issues facing the nation and the Senate before taking questions from Rotarians.  Among the topics addressed were the situation in Ukraine, infrastructure, use of federal COVID dollars, regulation, and the current state of the beef cattle industry and sales to packing plants.  She was presented a collection of Seward County gifts by Ken Schmieding, Rotarian and Seward County Commissioner.
Seward Rotary Receives Update on Zambia Project
Dr. Chuck Erickson of the Lincoln South Rotary Club provided an update on that club's Zambia Project, which is a Rotary Foundation Global Grant project promoting health and nutrition education, ag and horticulture education, and fresh water for residents of the African nation.  Seward Rotary has supported this project for several years, joined by Jones Bank, Chuck and Jan Matzke, and Bonnie and Jon Kruse.  Seward Rotary is again providing funding for this important project this year, generously matched by Jones Bank and the Wake Foundation.

Rotarian Ken Schmieding and Cheryl Schmieding were both recognized by the Seward Rotary Club at its year end meeting

Every Rotarian, Every Year
Seward Rotarians are encouraged to make a personal gift to the Rotary Foundation's Annual Fund, which in turn supports the local and global work of our Club.  Gifts made by December 31 of $100 or more will qualify for matching recognition points leading to recognition as a Paul Harris Fellow.
