Seward Service Celebration

Seward Rotary has for years recognized members of Seward County for their significant contributions. The Service Above Self award is presented to a non-Rotary member of the community who exemplifies the Rotary motto of "Service Above Self." Seward Rotary donates money in the name of the honoree to the Rotary International Polio eradication fund and in turn the Honoree is awarded the Rotary International Paul Harris Fellow.

The late Wayne Tandrup, a longtime Rotary member, was instrumental in establishing a financial commitment to worldwide polio eradication for the Seward club and its Rotary district. Tandrup, a polio survivor himself, over came his battle with polio to become a successful business man. Annually, an award is presented in his honor to a member of the community who has fought to overcome adversity in their own life.

Traditionally, members have nominated and selected recipients (listed at left and right). In an effort to bring greater awareness and community involvement to the selection and celebration, Seward Rotary hosted the first annual Seward Service Celebration in May, 2017. Each year we invite the public to submit nominees for both awards and to join us in celebrating the presentations.

The 2019 Seward Service Celebration will be held on May 5, 2018 at the Seward County Harvest Hall and will feature special guest, John Cook, head coach of the Nebraska volleyball team. There will also be a live auction.
