Local Seward Rotary member, Ken Schmieding has enjoyed perfect attendance every week since he joined the Seward Rotary Club over 42 years ago. He was recognized with for his Perfect Attendance again for the Rotary Club year at the recent Seward Rotary Club meeting on Wednesday, Dec. 27th, the last meeting of the year, held at noon at the Jones National Bank and Trust during their weekly luncheon meeting-the last of the year. At the luncheon meeting Ken Schmieding was presented with the J. Don Miller Perfect Attendance Award for having not missed a Rotary meeting all year. “There were week’s when I had a conflict for our meeting and I had to make up a meeting in Lincoln, David City or York,” said Schmieding. “But I always made sure I attended a Rotary meeting within the time frame allotted.” “We are proud of Ken and his passion to be at the Rotary Club meeting every week,” said Rotary President Russ Sommerfeld. “He is an outstanding example for all of us and we should learn from his longtime commitment to Rotary!” “Schmieding holds the record in the Seward Club and has to be one of the top “perfect attendance” honorees in the District. Rotary prides itself on attendance at meetings and Ken Schmieding leads by example,” commented longtime Rotarian Clark Kolterman. “I know that even when he has been sick and in the hospital, he made the effort to “make-up” for a missed meeting!” “He is indeed dedicated to the Rotary goal of fellowship and service!” Stated Rotarian Shelia Beins. “We are really proud of Ken for this accomplishment and wish him many more years of perfect attendance!” The local J. Don Miller Perfect Attendance Award was established by the Seward Rotary Club to honor longtime Seward Rotarian, Seward Businessman and Civic Leader, the late J. Don Miller, who enjoyed Rotary and had perfect attendance from the day he started until his sudden death. An engraved plaque honoring J. Don Miller lists the names of the Seward Rotary Club members with perfect attendance. |
