He introduced Thad Robertson, Cattle Procurement and Ben Mohl-Manager both of The LoneCreek Cattle Company. Both representatives presented and shared information and facts on the LoneCreek Cattle Company and Piedmontese Certified Beef, using a power point presentation.

Thad Robertson presented first for the corporation, and spoke on the new Lone Creek Cattle Company location in Seward County, call the “Seward Farms.” He stated the “Seward Farm” features 850 acres that have been placed into new pasture lands for the Piedmontese Cattle, particularly for the ‘seedstock” herd and their donor cattle. The location is a perfect, closer location, compared to driving all the way to their operation in Valentine. The Seward Farm is much more convenient, with with the proximity to Lincoln and Omaha, for perspective buyers. The Seward Farm hosts many of the company’s full blooded cattle in the system. He commented on the other Nebraska locations and ranches.

The program of LoneCreek Cattle Company is to merge Piedmontese cattle with the finest ranching practices to produce a generous supply of gourmet beef. To maintain the integrity of the breed, the company only partners with producers who are willing to meet the strictly defined ranching standards. The LoneCreek Company owns over 2000 Piedmontese bulls in a lease operation, with a goal to develop full blooded bulls to lease out for purchase or contract.

The Piedmontese Breed is a tender, but lean beef, and works to develop tenderness and leanness of muscle. The Piedmontese Breed is a Grass Fed product that is tender and perfect for their grass fed program. They own three commercial feed yards.

The LoneCreek Cattle Company works with 29 cooperative producers and has over 25,000 animals. He stressed it is an all-natural program.

Robertson reviewed the cons to least bulls and calves, and spoke on the advantages of leasing a bull vs’s ownership of a bull. He also stressed their strong “Third Party Verification program, where there is an audit once a year of their stock, and commented on their strong Source Verification, Certified Piedmontese Process Verified Program (PVP). He noted proudly that the Piedmontese beef is the “Official Beef of the Huskers!”

He spoke on the on-line sales success of the Piedmontese Beef product and that 90% of their sales to- date come from the internet sales and their box beef operation. Another popular option is their Beef Club program.

Ben Mohl, Manager of Lone Creek Cattle Company addressed the membership of the Rotary Club on the Nutrition value of their beef, featuring lower total fat, lower saturated fat and higher protein. He stressed the beef features a Premium Tenderness, and the “Quality” is in the breed, not the marbling.

While the retail is more expensive, it is an all-natural product, that is very healthy food source. The company has enjoyed outstanding growth, with many customers found on both coasts. He stated that the growth is with customers who want a “healthier” beef option.

They commented on their new office and retail sales operation located near the Lancaster Events Center at 84th and Havelock. Questions and answers followed.
