Seward Rotary heard about Seward's parks and 2023 programming from Adam Bode during its January 11, 2023 meeting
Adam Bode, Assistant Seward Parks and Recreation Director, updated the Seward Rotary Club on the Seward Parks and Recreation program and offerings at Rotary's weekly meeting on January 11, 2023.  He was introduced by the January Program Chair Ken Schmieding.

Bode focused his presentation on the City of Seward's properties involved with recreation. He pointed out that Seward has 11 parks, a sports complex with seven athletic fields, three tennis courts, a campground, horseshoe courts, sand volleyball courts, disc golf course, golf course, and walking trail.  He noted the City's two recreational gems - the largest round swimming pool in Nebraska and the beautiful bandshell and park area around it downtown.

Bode noted the Seward Recreation program features softball, baseball (including T-Ball and American Legion baseball programs), basketball for Grades 1-5, flag football, tackle football, swim club and swim lessons, soccer in spring and fall, wrestling, and volleyball for both Grades 3-6 and adults.

He spoke on the costs of the programs and noted that the Seward Optimist Club has a scholarship program in place to assist any child that cannot afford the fees for a specific program. The scholarship application can be found on line or by contacting the Seward Parks and Recreation Office.
