Alivia Hartmann has been recognized as the Youth Rotarian for October 2021
Alivia Hartmann of Seward was recognized on October 6, 2021 as the Seward Youth Rotarian for October.  A senior at Seward High School, Alivia is the daughter of Christina Minarik and Zachary Hartmann.
 
Alivia has been a member of the Seward High Honor Roll many times and received numerous PRIDE awards from members of the Seward High faculty.
 
She loves music and has taken piano lessons for 13 years.  She is a member of the Seward High Marching Band, where she's been a section leader and also lettered in band.  She enjoys playing the bass clarinet and has participated in the Symphonic Band, Pep Band, and Wind Ensemble.  She has been accepted many times for the Concordia University, Nebraska Honor Band, the University of Nebraska at Kearney Honor Band, the Doane University Honor Band, and the conference honor band.  She has also competed at the District Music Contest successfully, as well as the Crete Music Contest.
 
Alivia has played softball for over ten years and is a past member of the Seward High softball team, playing center field.  She has lettered in the softball.  She also loves soccer and played soccer at Seward High for the last three years, lettering the last two years and serving as captain last year.
 
Alivia was elected Senior Class President and has been a member of the Seward High Leadership Team (Student Council) for four years. She was selected to be the Seward High representative for the Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership Summit/Seminar.  She is a leader in the Seward High Key Club and has been actively involved in the Multicultural Fair for the last three years to promote international understanding.  She also has assisted in coordinating a statewide fundraiser program for children with Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA).
 
Her interests and hobbies include all forms of music and especially playing the piano and being with her friends. 
 
Alivia's employment experiences include serving as a nanny, working as a checker at Pac and Save, and currently serving as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) at Ridgewood, as she has enjoyed working with older adults and preparing for her nursing career. 
 
In the area of “Service Above Self” she has worked in countless hours of volunteer projects with her high school service clubs and also worked with the Rheumatoid Arthritis program for children.  She also worked as a counselor for the Outdoor Education program at the Seward Middle School. She has performed over 150 hours of service during her high school career.
 
Alivia plans to attend either the University of Kansas or the University of Colorado-Denver majoring in nursing with a goal of hoping to become a traveling nurse practitioner.
 
Alivia will be recognized at the annual Seward High Honors Night in May 2021 and is a finalist for the Seward Rotary Club Youth Rotarian of the Year Scholarship.  Applications for the Seward Youth Rotarian award are available in the Seward High School Counselor’s office.
