Former Seward Rotarian Jill Wild brings greetings from Rotarians in Mexico
Former Seward Rotarian, Jill Wild, a member of Playa del Carmen Seaside Rotary Club of Mexico, visited Seward Rotary Club on May 8, 2024.
She visited on behalf of her Rotary Club, which sponsors the “Feeding the Future” noon lunch program for 96 children attending school in her area. The poverty level is extreme and the noon lunches- six days a week- keep the children in school. The Torres de la Paz is a settlement is a community of makeshift homes in a clearing, located under power-lines.
Jill and her husband John are Seaside Rotarians, which sponsors the meal program at a cost of $1,200 a month. They are a small Rotary Club and seeking International Partners for this program.
The Seaside Rotary Club has also set-up a solar-powered clean water filtration system and a kitchen to serve the meals.
Jill presented the Seward Rotary Club with their Rotary Club banner and Ben Spirk, President of the Seward Rotary Club presented her with a Seward Rotary Banner to take to Mexico.
