The annual “My Favorite Tree” art contest was held once again in conjunction with Seward's annual Arbor Day celebration, which was held on April 26th at the Nebraska National Guard Museum in celebration of the museum's 10th anniversary.
The Grand Prize winner was McKenzie Wobken, a Fourth Grader at St. Vincent de Paul Elementary School in Seward. Her teacher is Mrs. Dorothy Marshall. Other Fourth Grade finalists were Amber Troyer, Seward Elementary; Andy Brecka, Seward Elementary; Mason Delapaz, Seward Elementary; Paisley Petersen, Seward Elementary; and Grant Brashear, St. John Lutheran Elementary. The local judge was Joyce Jacksonick, an art major at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Each student won a cash prize from the GFWC Seward Woman’s Club and a special anniversary coin from the Nebraska National Guard Museum.
This is the 52nd annual “My Favorite Tree” art contest in Seward sponsored by the GFWC Seward Woman’s Club. Seward Rotary Club is a proud participant in the community's annual Arbor Day celebration. Seward is an official "Tree City USA" recognized by the National Arbor Day Foundation.
