Roger Glawatz Selected Recipient of the Seward County Community Service Award
Longtime Seward public servant/ former Seward Mayor and Seward County Commissioner-Roger Glawatz of Seward was honored on Saturday, June 13, 2020 at the Seward County Ag Pavilion and presented the Seward County Community Service award by the July 4 Committee gathering to honor the 2020 Rotary Club Essay Royalty and other awardees. The award was announced at the recent Seward Fourth of July Celebration Committee meeting June 9 th at the Bottle Rocket Celebration Room at the Seward Fourth of July Celebration Committee meeting. The award is usually presented at the annual Seward Fourth of July Celebration Kick-Off Celebration, however it could not be held this year, due to the Corona-19 Virus.
Rotary Club Zoom Meeting Features Speaker Jaims Carey Live from the
The Seward Rotary Club is a member of Rotary International and for their weekly program they went very “international” featuring a live presentation from the Grand Bahamas, with the presentation from the Rotary Club Lucaya’s President Jaims Carey. He made the presentation on Wednesday, June 10 at noon in a live Zoom meeting. He was introduced by Seward Rotary Program Chair Melanie Ayres and Seward Rotary Foundation Committee members, Jon and Bonnie Kruse. Also featured on the program was Rotary District Global Grant Chairman-Ed Walsh of Omaha. Jaims Carey is a Mechanical Engineer and works at the Freeport Container Port. He noted he is “back to work” at his office and commented briefly on the Corona -19 Virus on Grand Bahama. 
Seward Rotary Club Sponsors 2020 Holiday Outdoor Home Decorating Contest for Seward
The Seward Rotary Club will again sponsor the annual July 4 Outdoor Holiday Home Decorating Contest in conjunction with the annual Seward Fourth of July Celebration activities in Seward. The contest will judge area home outdoor décor and lighted patriotic decorations on and around area homes. The annual contest will be judged on Sunday, June 28th and winners will be announced in the local papers. The contest is open to homes in the Greater Seward area only. The goal is to generate enthusiasm and patriotism and assist in Seward keeping the red, white and blue theme as “Nebraska’s Official Fourth of July City!”
